You are the Senior Coach/Manager of a successful professional sports team. The season is progressing well, and the A grade has won three of their first five games. Assume your team has a 20-week season. One of your most highly paid and marketable team members has failed to attend team meetings and has not met performance targets agreed upon at the commencement of the season.
In addition to training and performing it is expected that your athletes fulfil the following obligations as part of their professional contracts:
Regular contribution and leadership at team meetings;
Participation in community-based development activities;
Attending team sponsor dinners;
Completion of weekly self-evaluation reports.
This athlete would normally be in your best team. The athlete had some injuries during the pre-season and while they are now back to full fitness they are not in the A grade team
they are playing reserves. You believe your athlete has some motivational issues and have recognised that the athlete:
Did not speak at two team meetings, was late for a third meeting and missed the fourth meeting;
Did not attend a team dinner that was ‘optional’ but this player was the only player missing;
Failed to attend a junior coaching clinic with team members;
Has been performing at a level in the reserves that are below standard.
You plan to have a meeting with the athlete to establish how to assist them to meet the performance targets more effectively. This meeting includes a discussion on the High-Performance Plan for the team that all team members endorsed during the pre-season. Prepare a report on this issue including a summary of the High-Performance Plan.
Assume that your CEO and Board will want to see this report so that they understand how you, the Senior Coach, manage athletes who are not performing.
Now, pay attention please to this assessment to be successful.
we can choose a local, or a regional team we need to find the information about the organisation as possible !
