ASSIGNMENT FOR MGM3107
SEMESTER II
(20 MARKS)
Students will be given one set of data. You need to analyse the data by using manual calculation.
Instructions/Steps:
1. You will be given one set of data (including variable Y and X).
2. Describe your sample data by using frequency table, frequency distributions and histogram (use data Y) (refer Chapter 2).
i. Calculate mean, mode, median, range and standard deviation (refer Chapter 3).
ii. Test whether your sample mean is significantly different from the population mean, µ = 139 (refer Chapter 10). Test the hypothesis by using three different significance level i.e. 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1.
3. Divide your data equally (use data Y). Hence, you will have 2 samples (n1 = 10, n2 = 10).
i. Describe the differences between the 2 samples by using Step 2 and 2i.
ii. Test whether there is a significant difference between the sample means. Test the hypothesis by using three different significance level i.e. 0.01, 0.05 and 0.1. Assume equal population standard deviations. (refer Chapter 11).
4. Use both dependent and independent variable (use data Y and X) (refer Chapter 13).
i. Determine the coefficient of correlation and coefficient of determination.
ii. Determine the simple linear regression line and explain your result.
Good luck!
