Assessment Event 3 – Leadership Capability Report
Weighting: 30 % Learning Outcomes: 4, 5
Due date: Week 11 Graduate Attributes: 1, 4, 6
Length: 2000 - 2500 (minimum 700 words per part)
This assessment tasks requires students to reflect on your study of leadership and management over the duration of your studies and how well you have evolved your own leadership capabilities, including your emotional intelligence.
Part 1
1.1 Analyse evidence from the literature to provide an explanation of the required personal capabilities (including emotional intelligence) that leaders see as being most important for effective performance.
1.2 Evaluate your personal capability and skill in regard to the leadership capabilities by completing the Self-insight exercises 4.1, 4.2 and 4.3 of the text. Summarise and interpret your findings.
1.3 Reflect on an example of when you have led a team or mentored an individual. Describe the leadership / mentoring experience and explain what you have learned from the process.
Part 2
Develop a personal professional leadership plan for the next five to ten years. The plan must include:
2.1 Personal objectives and career goals
2.2 Strategies (based on industry best-practice) to achieve the objectives such as leadership roles, networking, mentoring, further education and professional development activities
2.3 Timeframes
Format:
Written submissions should be a maximum of 2500 words in length (excluding references) and professionally presented. 12 point, 1 ½ spaced, Arial or Calibri font is preferred.
This is an academic report and demands analysis and synthesis of academic literature found in refereed journals and academic books.
The report is to be written in an academic convention with proper citations and references. As a guide, a minimum of ten academic references are envisaged. Additional (optional) references may be cited from any source. These should be documented using Harvard AGPS reference style.
Submission:
Work submitted for all assignments must be accompanied by a completed and signed copy of the Assessment Cover Sheet. Students must always retain an electronic copy of their submitted assignment.
