Assignment 2 Details:
This assignment aims to give you experience in preparing a lesson plan that ensures the successful inclusion of a student with a disability or additional need in your class using the universal design for learning framework. Your assignment is to be based on a student you have observed (more authentic) (e.g., professional experience, do not name the student; media, video clip).
Part 1. Discuss the student's strengths and areas of need. Using the literature to assist and support your observations, describe the student's learning needs. Using current literature and by referring to universal design for learning, you are required to explain and justify approaches taken (1800 words) to include the student (see next).
Part 2: Apply the UDL framework to a lesson plan that you consider successful (e.g. a lesson plan that you have previously prepared, a lesson that you have observed or an alternative). Use a different colour font to show how you have adapted the lesson; that is, apply the three principles of universal design for learning to the lesson for your class and explain how it includes your student (with additional needs). You may also include adjustments and accommodations that are appropriate for your student.
