Individual Presentation Guidelines:
• This individual presentation (Assessment 1 Part B) covers Learning Outcome 1 and 2 as part of the requirement for DBN509 Operations Management.
• The individual presentation must be your own work. If copying (plagiarism) from other sources/individuals is identified you will receive zero marks.
• You presentation should demonstrate evidence of applying concepts/theories learned from a wide range of materials, including a total of at least 3 updated secondary data sources, such as relevant textbooks, academic journals or articles, media reports, annual reports, company’s website and/or reputable online sources.
• Your presentation should cover the information highlighted in two broad themes (LO 1 and LO2).
• One printed hardcopy of your presentation slides must be handed to your lecturer at the time of your presentation. Printing format: Landscape, 4 slides per page.
• The presentation time limit should not exceed 15 minutes. It includes 5 minutes for the audience to ask questions, if no questions are taken during the presentation.
• You should apply general presentation etiquette (formal attire, body language, delivery, structure).
Objectives of the Presentation:
The objective of this presentation is to ensure that students are equipped with skills showing the ability to:

Instructions for the Assessment 1 Part B (Individual Presentation)
• This is an individual assignment and need to be completed in the form of a presentation.
• The assignment is to be completed for Fonterra (Assessment 1 Part A).
• The assignment is split into two key areas (Operational Issues and Continuous Improvement) related to the learning outcome 1 & 2 of the course.
• The presentation shall be for a maximum of 10 minutes with an additional 5 minutes for questions by audience.
Key areas for Presentation
• Discuss and analyse BOTH the operational challenges and effectiveness of the tools of continuous improvement processes used by Fonterra.
• A set of research questions are stated to facilitate the direction of research.
• Provide answers to the research questions linked to the operations of the organisation.

Operational issues and challenges related to quality and performance (5 minutes) (LO1)
• Describe the nature of operations and transformation process for Fonterra.
• Research and identify any three critical operational issues and challenges that have significant impact on Fonterra’s ability to deliver quality products to its customers and/or achieve a high performance in its internal business processes.
• Analyse and discuss any three initiatives taken by Fonterra to enhance its capability to effectively manage these issues and challenges.

• Describe the application of continuous improvement initiatives of Fonterra to enhance its product quality and performance.
• Analyse the possible application of any two tools of continuous improvement by Fonterra to deliver high performance.
