Assessment 2: Written Assessment
Task Description
This reflection is part of your ongoing clinical learning that extends to include developing skills in the assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation of a care plan that promotes confidence in developing the professional standards required of a registered nurse according to the NMBA.
During clinical placement, you will be required to write a reflection for each clinical setting. Word limit for each clinical setting is 1000 words. There is a leeway of +/-10% allowable for this word limit and does include in- text referencing.
Two reflective pieces will be required: one on the complex care component and one on the mental health component. The reflection should include what happened and any suggestions that may have improved the clinical situation. Did the situation have an impact on you, your patient and/or a staff member? Did the situation affect other family members?
This assessment item should be in MS-Word document format and submitted to the unit Moodle site.
Assessment Due Date
Submit to the unit Moodle site within five working days/one week of completing your clinical placement.
Return Date to Students
Your results will be uploaded on Moodle within 21 working days of submission.

Assessment Criteria
The clinical situation is clearly identified.
The reflective piece must apply the principles from the nursing process to deliver evidence-based, person-centered nursing care to in consumers, families, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team experiencing complex alterations in health status.
You are required to choose one of the seven Registered Nurse Standards for Practice as a basis for this clinical experience reflection.
Ability to demonstrate cultural sensitivity and advanced communication skills in collaborating effectively with consumers, families, carers and members of the multidisciplinary team.
Gibbs reflective cycle was used to reflect on the clinical learning experience and the nursing process approach was used to provide clinical care to the patient.
Conditions
Minimum mark or grade - Must obtain a Pass in this assessment item to be eligible to pass the unit.
