This is the final assessment for Management Competencies and will contribute 60% to your overall mark in the subject.

Assessment Objectives
The purpose of this task is to provide you with the opportunity to reflect on the experiential learning undertaken during the semester, to demonstrate an in-depth understanding of the theory covered as part of this course and to demonstrate how to apply theoretical concepts covered in the class to a real-life situation.

Assessment Sections and Marking Criteria
Section 1: Reflective Section (20%)
You are required to keep a learning journal throughout the semester. In this journal you are need to keep record of the activities you have undertaken throughout the semester which relate to working on your management competencies. Based on your first (individual) assignment you will have thought about your management skills and identified which areas are strengths and which are areas for development. In this section of your exam you need to write a reflective piece which focuses on what activities you have undertaken to extend your skills in the areas that you identified would benefit from development. You need to consider how you have assessed your performance based on the activities undertaken and reflect on what this implies in terms of ongoing development of your skills.

Section 2: Theory Section (20%)
In addition 20% of the final exam will consist of theoretical questions which test your understanding of the key concepts and theoretical aspects of management competencies. Some of these questions will be short scenarios where you will have to decide what the most appropriate managerial action would be to take, while other questions will test knowledge of the theory directly.
The format of the questions in this section will be multiple choice. There are twenty questions in this section; you need to answer all twenty questions. One point will be awarded for each correct answer in this section. Section 3: Case Incident (60%)
Finally you will be given a managerial scenario and be asked to respond to this based on the key skills learnt in this course. This scenario will be in the format of you having had to, at short notice, step into a managerial role. You will be presented with a number of items which are in your predecessor’s in-basket. You will be required to prioritise these and respond to them in an appropriate manor. For each item you will have to indicate the method you would use to respond to the item, the priority, who is involved and a few lines on what your response would entail.
