Introduction:
Intercultural learning is a life-long journey of acquiring knowledge, skills and maintaining curiosity. Developing of a non-judgemental attitude enables the identification of underlying paradigms which lead to conflict and miscommunication. Intercultural intelligence enables the recognition and appreciation of different identities and how they come into play in various situations at work.

Instructions:
In this essay you need to discuss intercultural issues and describe strategies which are necessary to become interculturally competent at work. You are required to link the concepts and relevant theories to the recognition of diversity and development of cultural intelligence.
1) Introduction:
• Outline why the cultivation of ‘openness to other worldviews’ is important for global citizens.
• Briefly describe the skills, knowledge and attitude that are required to become interculturally competent at work.
2) In your body paragraphs identify intercultural issues and describe strategies individuals can use to develop their cultural competence and how to behave and communicate effectively and appropriately in a globalised world. Include:
• The link between culture and behavior.
• Why mindfulness and listening skills are central for intercultural competence.
• How humility and gaining deeper self-awareness can help your cultural communication.
• Relate intercultural issues to theories related to cultural differences.
In this essay draw from the theories covered in class and use references to relevant scholarship. You must provide evidence from the readings and resources to clearly justify your line of argument. Use scholarly language to explicitly and succinctly demonstrate an understanding of intercultural competence.
