Description / Requirements
1. Self-introduction and hero review (200 words maximum)
1. Introduce yourself to the class, in the Self-introductions Forum on the Unit Collaborate Discussion Forum and share four interesting things about yourself; reply and chat with the other students in a welcoming and engaging manner.
2. As part of your written assignment (not to be shared on the Forum), relate a time when you saw yourself as a hero, and a time when someone else saw you as a hero (can’t be the same experience) - what impact have these events had on your life?
3. Copy and paste your self-introduction, four interesting things about yourself, and the hero review, and add this to the remaining parts of this assignment task in a word document which you will submit to your drop box.

2. Mini-essay on
Self-Awareness
(600 words) 1. In their readings (found in Resources, Reading list) Short
(2012) and Drucker (2005) both discuss self-awareness (strengths, performance, values, etc), relationship building, and interpersonal communication. Before you deep dive into all the topics for this unit, provide an analysis of where you see your strengths, and how you see your personality, attitudes and perceptions. Ensure you use two different references to support your analysis from this Module’s readings found at:

2. Once this task has been completed, chat with friend, family member or work colleague about whether they see you in the same way – try to keep an open mind! This exercise is about strategies for gaining self-awareness through accessing other’s perceptions, so discuss your learning from this exercise.
3.Self-Awareness Reflection
(minimum 200 words)
Complete the Reflection/Action Plan (Exercise 1-H) located in the Assignment 1 folder. The format will used for each assessment task that follows, however you will write the reflection from the viewpoint of each topic being addressed. This week write on SELFAWARENESS but keep in mind this can be about anything in the topic area.
4. Citations and referencing
All University work, including the essay in this assignment, requires you to cite your sources in-text and list them in a Reference List. Students must correctly use the Harvard style of referencing.

You must keep a backup copy of every assignment you submit, until the marked assignment has been returned to you. In the unlikely event that one of your assignments is misplaced, you will need to submit your backup copy.
Any work you submit may be checked by electronic or other means for the purposes of detecting collusion and/or plagiarism.
When you are required to submit an assignment through your CloudDeakin unit site, you will receive an email to your Deakin email address confirming that it has been submitted. You should check that you can see your assignment in the Submissions view of the Assignment drop box folder after upload, and check for, and keep, the email receipt for the submission.

Extension requests: Extension requests before the due date are approved by the unit chair and can be made by emailing the Unit Chair on g.digby@deakin.edu.au All requests require documented evidence of the extenuating circumstance(s) causing the delay in submission (e.g. medical certificate, police report. Learning Access Plan). Extensions can be given for 1 day up to a maximum of 1 week in this Unit due to the number of assessment tasks and the short turnaround times for marking. Extensions sought after the due date must requested through the formal Deakin request for special consideration.
Penalties for late submission: The following marking penalties will apply if you submit an assessment task after the due date without an approved extension:
• 5% will be deducted from available marks for each day up to five days, and work that is submitted more than five days after the due date will not be marked. You will receive 0% for the task.
• 'Day' means working day for paper submissions and calendar day for electronic submissions.
• The Unit Chair may refuse to accept a late submission where it is unreasonable or impracticable to assess the task after the due date.
The late penalty in MMM111 is calculated as follows:
1 day late: submitted one hour late after 11.59pm Sunday on due date but before Monday 11.59pm – 5% penalty.
2 days late: submitted after 11.59pm Sunday of the due date but before Tuesday 11.59pm – 10% penalty.
3 days late: submitted after 11.59pm Sunday of the due date but before Wednesday 11.59pm – 15% penalty.
4 days late: submitted after 11.59pm Sunday of the due date but before Thursday 11.59pm – 20% penalty.
5 days late: submitted after 11.59pm Sunday of the due date but before Friday 11.59pm – 25% penalty. Dropbox closes at 11.59pm five days after due date.
