Comments:

Hello dear students
Here are my tips for the next assignment (please excuse me if I sound repetitive, but I just want to make sure you understand what is expected):
1) The aims of this assignment are: to explain the rationale behind the development of the standards and discuss what the standards strive to achieve in relation to the delivery of patient care. To pass this assignment, the markers must be satisfied you achieved these.
2) Use the same essay writing instructions provided previously to plan and write your essay. This means that the written paper must be academic in style, word processed, with appropriate headers/footers, margin, font style, and use APA for referencing. Note that the word count is 3,000 words +/- 10% (excluding appendices and reference list).
3) Paper must be submitted to Turnitin to check for similarity. A similarity of less than 15% is required for final submission.
4) It must use the literature required: textbooks, peer-reviewed journal articles, online resources. Observe a minimum of 15 references for a 3,000 word piece of work. Remember, more references mean wider range of reading.
5) Observe very closely the APA 6th referencing style. Observe correct in-text referencing. Cite all authors when first mentioned, then you may use et al. (and others) afterwards.
6) Use the third-person point of view for academic papers (except for reflections when first-person is acceptable).
7) Paraphrase, use your own words, and cite your source/s of information every time you borrow idea/s from author/s.
8) There is no need for a cover page for this assessment task.
9) Be guided by an outline: Introduction, Discussion, Conclusion. The Discussion may be divided into the five standards you will be addressing.
10) Focus on the operative terms like explain, discuss, draw etc. What will you explain and discuss? It says five standards (not four or eight). A two or three sentence explanation or discussion will not cut it.
11) Provide a Title and an interesting Introduction that identifies the topic, purpose, scope and context of the paper. Provide a framework, well developed and defined, stimulating the interest and of appropriate length (10% of word count).
12) After the Introduction, discuss the reasons for the Standards. Provide an in-depth and sophisticated explanation and solid understanding of the relationship of the Standards to the Australian health care system and expected outcomes.
13) The bulk of this assignment is on the Standards you have chosen. Specifically, address how the Standards strive to achieve patient care. Discussions must be well developed and organised, all aspects of the question integrated with clear links to nursing care and citations of highly relevant resources.
14) Finish with a strong conclusion. This should be about 10% of the word count. Highlight the main points of the essay. Then, synthesise or bring ideas together, and marry with the introduction.
15) The Reference List is still a part of the paper. Please observe the APA 6th edition format for all literature cited in the assignment. Arrange in alphabetical order, italicise journals, do not forget details like place published and doi. You cannot get a Distinction or High Distinction if referencing is poor.
16) Try to meet the requirements by staying as close as possible to the marking guide (rubric). There is a requirement for a Title that reflects the content of the paper. There is also weight placed on the presentation and writing. This means that expression, grammar, spelling, and overall presentation are all taken into consideration. Thus, edit and proof-read your work a few times.
17) Observe the due date. Try to submit a few hours before the time to avoid delays in submission.
I am looking forward to reading your masterpieces!
