Assessment Type Written Assignment
Purpose -This assessment aims to develop your ability to evaluate, interpret and use high quality quantitative evidence in your practice.
Description - You are required to write a summary of a specified Cochrane Review that relates to one of the specified health issues covered in this course.
The Cochrane Reviews, Marking Algorithm and other relevant details can be found under the ‘Assessment’ tab on the NURS2201 Blackboard site.
This assessment requires you to provide a commentary on a Cochrane Review. Cochrane Nursing Care Field (CNCF) ‘Cochrane Corners’ are a summary of an original Cochrane Review written by nurses for nurses to highlight the relevance for nursing practice. 1. Submit Draft - The draft aims to encourage you to start your assessment early. The draft must contain a reasonable amount of relevant content and demonstrate genuine progress. There will be no written feedback provided on the draft but there will be dedicated time to discuss your draft with tutors during tutorials. The draft is worth up to 5 marks.

3. Background- Explain what the review is about and why it was conducted. Identify which parts of the review are relevant and interesting to you as a student nurse. It must not be a direct cut and paste (approximately 150-200 words).
4. Objective/s- Describe what this review aims to achieve. This information will come mainly from the systematic review report (approximately 50-100 words).
5. Interventions- Summarise the main interventions and the primary outcomes in the review. It must not be a direct cut and paste (approximately 150 words).
6. Results - Accurately report the results for the primary outcomes. You can use narrative, tabular or graphical formats as long as it accurately represents the results. It must not be a direct cut and paste. (Approximately 150-200 words).
7. Conclusions- Comment on the ‘Conclusion’ section. It must not be a direct cut and paste. (approx 100 Words).
8. Implications for practice- In your opinion, what are the implications of this review for nursing practice? This section requires independent, critical thought (approximately 150 words).
9. References- Use APA style to reference the Cochrane review and any other references you might use. Most sections of this assessment do not require external references however appropriate references in the ‘Background’ and ‘Implications for Practice’ sections may be useful. Compulsory Requirements You must submit this assessment item to pass the course Length 1000 words (+10%) with a minimum of 650 words required. NOTE: only the first 1100 words will be marked. This includes headings and in-text references but excludes the reference list.
