Submission Guidelines • All work must be submitted on Moodle by the due date along with a completed Assignment Cover Page.
• The assignment must be in MS Word format, 1.5 spacing, 11-pt Calibri (Body) font and 2 cm margins on all four sides of your page with appropriate section headings.
• Reference sources must be cited in the text of the report, and listed appropriately at the end in a reference list using IEEE referencing style for School of Business and School of Information Technology and Engineering respectively.
Extension • If an extension of time to submit work is required, a Special Consideration Application must be submitted directly to the School's Administration Officer, in Melbourne on Level 6 or in Sydney on Level 7. You must submit this application three working days prior to the due date of the assignment. Further information is available at:
• Academic Misconduct is a serious offence. Depending on the seriousness of the case, penalties can vary from a written warning or zero marks to exclusion from the course or rescinding the degree. Students should make themselves familiar with the full policy and procedure available at:
Misconduct-Policy-Procedure. For further information, please refer to the Academic Integrity Section in your Unit Description.
The above table is mean for your guide and should not be part of your submission. Download the assignment cover page on Moodle, complete it and make it the cover page of your submission.
Students are completing this assignment in groups. Each group is made of 4-5 students, and each group must submit a single project report following the guide above for marking and grading. Each team shall present its results in Week 12 using Power Point Slides within 15-30 minutes.
Your submissions must address the unit’s learning outcomes stated above, which shall be evaluated using the criteria set in the table below.
Marking Criteria
Criteria Explanation Marks
Basic principles Both report and oral presentation demonstrate a sound understanding of the design, analysis and evaluation of wireless communication systems. 20
Design, analysis and synthesis techniques relating to 5G New Radio Both report and oral presentation demonstrate a sound understanding and application of the design, analysis and evaluation of Xender. 20
Research depth and scope on 5G NR Both report and oral presentation demonstrate a thorough research into the issues (including protocols and interfaces) relating to the design and implementation of Xender. 20
Application of engineering techniques, resources and tools Both report and oral presentation demonstrate an application of sound engineering techniques, methods and tools for the design and implementation of Xender. 20
Communication and presentation skills and referencing Both report and oral presentation uses sound telecom terminology and excellent English to give a clear presentation of the project results. Uses IEEE referencing style perfectly. 20

Task Specification: Analysis and Simulation of the Operation of Xender
Xender allows the transfer of data between mobile devices without using mobile data, saving its users from mobile tariffs. The objective of this group project is to investigate into the technical aspects of Xender, which is a keen competitor to Bluetooth. Students are expected to submit a single group report which in the minimum:

1. Write clearly the contribution of each member in the group to the entire project and the writing of the report submitted for grading.
2. Demonstrates a thorough understanding of Xender, including its inventor and how it differs from Bluetooth.
3. Analyse issues of concern in the design of NR.
4. Show and analyse the air interface protocols used by Xender.
5. Use any software of choice to simulate the air interface of Xender, showing how it is used to transfer data between two mobile devices.
6. State and demonstrate the understanding of the physical layer and data link layer protocols implemented in the air interface of Xender, including the modulation, error control, multiple access method, and equalizers.
7. Demonstrate the understanding of current challenges faced by Xender.
8. Demonstrate a thorough research into issues to relating to Xender, including showing at least four (4) technical references.
