In light of these articles, please respond to the following questions:
First, briefly summarise the ‘Panama’ and ‘Paradise’ paper leaks and their implications for international business.
Now, identify and briefly introduce one Australian company or an Australian-based foreign subsidiary which have been implicated in the leak/s and elaborate on its ethical/ legitimacy standing based on ‘Black International Business’ taxonomy.
“Companies should know who really owns them and tax collectors and law enforcers should be able to obtain this information easily” (Article 2). Are you in agreement with this statement? Please justify your response.
“We will get more, but it is a slow burn, like when (Project) Wickenby was first formed” (Article 4). How do you evaluate the statement made by the ATO Chief? What are the steps the Australian government requires to undertake in tackling such situations?

Note: In addition to your own research, you may find the following two articles useful in responding to these questions:
1. “Paradise papers: how Australia can halt unfair use of tax havens” (Available at

Assessment Task Guidelines:
Part 1: PechaKucha Presentation
PechaKucha is an innovative individual presentation mechanism in which the content could be presented succinctly, easily and efficiently within a constrained timeframe. Using the PowerPoint presentation technique, each student will require to present 20 images with a length of 20 seconds each, for a total time of 6 minutes, 40 seconds. The images advance automatically while you talk along to the images.
As a controlled presentation style, students are required to use PechaKucha to summarise key issues found through their research endeavours and communicate them using images and verbal narratives in an engaging manner. Despite its challenging nature, it may provide students with an opportunity to both learn and present critical international business ideas in an enjoyable, efficient and creative style.
Part 2: PechaKucha Transcript (Report)
Each student will require to prepare and submit a separate transcript of the narratives used in the PechaKucha presentation in the form of a word/pdf document.
Submitted together with the PechaKucha, the transcript will have 20 separate sections based on 20 images.
Each section should include at least one or more ‘in-text’ reference/s used in preparing the presentation. Please note, any images, tables or animations used from online or other sources needs to be referenced as well.
At the end, the 21st section needs to be added to include a reference list (http://libguides.scu.edu.au/c.php?g=356711&p=2405577 (Links to an external site.)Links to an external site.).
Any additional material such as figures or tables could also be included if you feel it necessary. You can include them as appendices after the reference list. However, you need to show the link of each of the appendices used to the relevant section of the transcript.
Additional Guidelines for PechaKucha
PechaKucha is tightly structured. Therefore, it is important to plan it out slide by slide and rehearse well before recording the narratives. A significant amount of web material is available to learn more about PechaKucha and how to create one. I have picked up a few from the web for providing you with some ideas:

Use wide research to gather evidence for your perspective. You must demonstrate your ability to understand and incorporate ideas from academic (i.e., peer-reviewed) journals and other information sources, and show consistent argumentation throughout (not a mere description). Use relevant theories and examples in order to substantiate your arguments.
Mandatory Referencing Requirements
It is important that the assignment reflects the student’s own understanding of relevant literature. An effective integration of these materials to the discussion is also vital that could primarily be achieved through the use of appropriate referencing.
Accordingly, at least 5(five) academic references MUST be cited along with other non-academic references such as articles from periodicals, newspapers and web pages.
Structure, and Formatting
The students are expected to maintain a high standard in presenting their works.
The presentation must be well-structured and well-argued. The clarity of expressions together with the appropriate use of grammar, spelling and punctuations are important to maintain.
As mentioned above, an appropriate structure must be maintained.
For the report, the referencing format must strictly be adhered to (Harvard System).
For the PechKucha report, use appropriate pagination. 12 point font in Times New Roman should be used throughout with appropriate margins on each side (at least 2 cm).
