A bit of background of the school that i attended.
Details on my professional experience, i went to Abbotsford primary school in
Abbotsford 3067 Victoria, Abbotsford primary school is a Chinese / English Bilingual school, and i did my placement in Year 1/2 Chinese class, most of the children are from Vietnam, China, only 20% of children from Australia. As this is a bilingual school, the children who doesn't speak Chinese at home, they found it quite difficult to concentrate in class because the teacher speaks in chinese, therefore if they do not understand the teacher, they will not behave well in class. I have attended the website links of the school below, if you need extra information of the school. Website: http://abbotsfordps.vic.edu.au
Example:
A focus child could be a girl called Jennifer (6 years) who just arrived Australia last month from China, she does not understand english at all, she found it difficult to communicate with others peers and teachers who do not speak in Chinese, She only feel comfortable to speak Chinese to the teacher who can speak Chinese, therefore, she always sit by herself, she doesn't play with anyone.
Sometimes, she does not listen to the teacher, she plays with her fingers and her hair during class time because she does not understand what does the teacher say, therefore she does not preform and behave well in English lesson, only do well in Chinese lesson.
