Task 2 – Digital Poster - Is 1000 words = 30% for this course - Safe Assign is now open for early submissions – and will close on the due date Midday the 8th of September 2017.
Please refer to the Digital Poster Guidelines and your Task 2 Rubric to help guide you through the Steps of Task 2.
It is hoped that after completing Task 2 you will be able to understand the importance of the Close the Gap campaign and how you as nurses and midwives can facilitate this work in your daily professional practice. That you understand and know how to care for Indigenous males by practicing in a culturally safe way – by acknowledging Indigenous men’s business, incorporating cultural safety practice in your delivery of health care, understanding and utilising the role of Indigenous health workers in health care delivery, and understanding and demonstrate best practice and evidenced based practice through adhering to high quality Indigenous health research.
Step 1 - Choose a focus group for your digital poster from List A – Your focus - needs to be about Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander men for this task – and have an Indigenous men’s business focus.
Step 2 - Choose a topic from List B – There are many to choose from – and you need to choose (ONE) where you can create a best practice scenario case study – For this step – Start researching your topic area and choose (ONE) specific condition/diagnoses to build your case study around. I recommend that you think about what you would do when you are working in a healthcare environment for the patient in your case study?
Ask yourself? – what research would you do about the patient in your care? What would you write in your patient’s chart? what has your patient been admitted for? – what nursing interventions would your carry out, and what drug therapy would you administer to the patient in your case study?
The AIM of Task 2 - Is about developing your critical thinking abilities, your problem-solving skills and drawing on your research knowledge to demonstrate that you understand what is best practice. Your case study and digital poster content needs to be based on evidenced based research. Information used throughout your digital poster must relate back to your initial case study content/outline.
Headings - Please follow the headings that I have provided for you for Task 2. I recommend that you write your introduction last, so you will then have researched all the information to enable you to write a concise introduction.
Word Count – The 1000 words written need to be on the poster itself, this is the only document that you need to submit. References are not counted in the word count.
References – Please try to use references between 2007-2017 (10 years), historical references can be older. The important thing for Task 2 is that you can back up everything you write with reputable literature/resources.
