Weighting This assignment is worth 40% of the total marks for this unit
Context This a research assignment that requires the student to research aspects of health and social welfare provision in their area
Procedure Students will be expected to work in groups of 4-5 students to complete this assessment. The allocation of tasks within the group and the amount of work each group member contributes is to be negotiated within the group.

The submitted assignment will be marked as a whole. Each member of the group will receive the same mark that the assignment received.

Evidence The submitted assignment will need to contain an introduction, main body of work and conclusion. The main body will contain three parts and within each part, specific questions will need to be answered as described below:
Part one.
Select a community health or community services organisation in your area. This service could be:
• A Community Health service;
• A Non-Government Organisation (NGO);
• A Local Government; or
• Any other service organisation
1. What are the stated values of this organisation?
2. Make comment on the organisations values in relation to the core principles of primary health care.
3. Provide a breakdown of the major funding sources for this organisation.
Part two
Within that organisation, identify three (3) servicesthis organisation provides to the community and describe for each of those services:
1. What is the aim of this service?
2. What is the target group for this service?
3. What is the evidence that this service is required?
4. Specifically, what services do they actually provide?
5. Where does the funding come from (Federal, State, Local Government)?
6. What are the relevant legislations and regulations that impact upon this service
Part three
1. Generally what is the role of Medicare Locals?
2. What is the role of the Gippsland Medicare Local?
3. Specifically, what services dose the Gippsland Medicare Local provide?
Range and conditions The assignment will need to contain an introduction, main body of work and conclusion. The assignment will be presented in an academic format and correctly referenced. The use of headings is strongly recommended.
