The Research Project Essay will be on the topic developed and described by the student in her/his Research Proposal. The Essay will provide an opportunity for the student to utilise a theoretical framework for independent research and use key theoretical concepts in the analysis of literary or other cultural texts.

The Research Project Essay is an opportunity for students to utilise a theoretical framework for independent research and to apply theoretical concepts in the analysis of texts.
identify and compare the major developments in literary theory over the course of the century
apply theoretical approaches to works of literature analyse and evaluate specific literary theories
synthesise knowledge of literary theories in order to execute an individual research project
Submit the essay through Turnitin on LEO
Essays will be returned through LEO. An assessment rubric reflecting the criteria listed below will be adapted for Turnitin.

? differentiate schools of theoretical thought
? demonstrate reading and comprehension of texts
? utilise appropriate theoretical concepts in the analysis of
texts
? present a consistent analysis of texts
? demonstrate independent research
