Assignment 1
Group Case Study Presentation/Report
Length and/or format: 1500 words
Purpose: To assess your ability to apply International Business concepts and theories
Criteria for Assignment 1 – Group Case Study Presentation/Report
two component parts – a Power Point presentation and submission of a Word report
What You Should Do
Note that both the Presentation and the Report do not simply involve summarising the Case and answering the Case questions that appear at the end of the Case. You should include a profile of the organisation in the Case, a summary of the Case (chances are the audience won’t have read it before your Presentation), identify the key and secondary issues in the Case. Be explicit about what the Case is illustrating about International Business and link it to what is being covered in lectures. It is also mandatory to locate two appropriate academic journal articles (see the Recommended Journals in the Unit Outline as a starting point), briefly profile these and discuss how they can be related to the Case. Only then answer the Case questions, discussing them in the wider context of the above. In the final analysis – consider why the Case was chosen for inclusion in the set text. The cases appear in the text book.
The Presentation
The Power point presentation should run no more than 15 minutes, and no less than 10 minutes, so it is suggested that the group time it prior to presenting it in class. The Presentation will be followed by a brief discussion of the issues arising from the case.
The Report
should be in A4 format, with a single staple in the top left hand corner.
It should follow the structure detailed below and overleaf, and include a Table of Contents, to assist readability.
Structure for the Report (1500 words max, following is a guide only)
1.0 Introduction (100 words)
2.0 Brief profile of the organisation in the case (150 words)
3.0 Brief summary of the case (250 words)
