Discuss the following:
Conduct your own research on Wesfarmers Limited in order to address the following questions:
(a) Do you believe that the combined value for Wesfarmers Limited of its businesses is greater than the value of each of the individual businesses? Justify your opinion with reference to how ‘value’ should be measured.
(b) Why do you think Wesfarmers Limited has pursued a diversification strategy? Explain your choice.
(c) What type of diversification has Wesfarmers’ adopted? Explain its key features and why you think this type of diversification was chosen.
(d) Assess the level of success you think Wesfarmers has achieved from diversification of its businesses.
You are expected to use a minimum of 10 references. As a guide these must be authoritative and comprise:
